Background: Adolescence is the stage of significant growth and potential, but it is also considered to be a time of great risk. Globally, cigarette smoking is common among youth. Another serious concern about other tobacco products including pipes, hookahs, smokeless tobacco, or bidis is also commonly used by youth worldwide. Aim: This study aims to estimate the knowledge, attitudes, and practice on smoking habits in adolescents in rural area (Kanchipuram district). Materials and Methods: This research was conducted among the adolescents of Kanchipuram district. The data collection included standardized questionnaires consisting of 10 questions. The survey was conducted among 70 adolescents of Kanchipuram district. Results: The research is showing that fewer young people are taking up smoking overall and the use is relatively low for those up to 15 years old, it is higher for those 16–17 years old. This is important because the majority of adult smokers started as teenagers and is more likely to continue smoking. If tobacco use continues, the risks associated with smoking, particularly to health and fitness - have a large detrimental effect. Conclusion: The current study indicates that adolescents were more likely to smoke to achieve relaxation and self-presentation. This might be due to that numerous college students, particularly male students, experience changes in self-consciousness and interpersonal relationships, and hence, the desire to be recognized just as they believe smoking is associated with independence and maturity.
