    Introduction: Mesuaferrin-A, bioactive flavonoid has been isolated from the bark of Mesua ferrea L. shown both in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities. Objective: The present study was aimed to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant activities of bioactive flavonoid mesuaferrin-A from M. ferrea bark ethyl acetate extract (MFBEE) by in vitro antioxidant assays such as 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) assays. Materials and Methods: To evaluate the in vitro antioxidant potential of mesuaferrin-A, by ABTS and NBT riboflavin photoreduction (superoxide radical scavenging activity) using standard methods. Results: The results showed that the mesuaferrin-A (25, 50, and 100 μg/ml) has significant ABTS and superoxide free radical inhibiting activity (NBT) at 100 µg/ml was 68.55% and 80.45% with half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50 ) values of 47.37 and 33.45, whereas the standards ascorbic acid and quercetin at 10 µg/ml, exhibited 85.19% and 72.05% with IC50 values of standards 3.33 µg/ml and 4.55 µg/ml, respectively. Conclusion: From this study, it can be concluded that the mesuaferrin-A exhibited significant scavenging activity on ABTS and superoxide free radical inhibiting activity (NBT), and could serve as a potential source of natural antioxidants, for the development of therapeutic antioxidant drugs.
