Background: Soil-transmitted helminth is a worm that has been causing multiple infections through the soil to the population of Indonesia; children are usually the most affected by this insect. Apparently, studies have determined that the cause of these infections can be for multiple reasons. Aim: The objective of this research is to determine the main factors (handwashing from defecation, environmental sanitation, and parental education level). Materials and Methods: The investigation was carried out through a cross-section method. The cutting studies were done in the primary school (SD) I Ngemplak, Kartasura, using the total sampling method. The statistical analysis used is Fisher’s exact test and resulted in 53 samples studied. Results: The incidence of worms infection in this study is 11.32%, with intestinal worms and hookworms as the main cause. Therefore, the factors that disrupt the helminth infection transmitted by the soil are handwashing after defecation (P = 0.038). Meanwhile, the levels of environmental sanitation and parental education do not have a significant relationship with infection by soil-transmitted helminthes (STHs) (P = 0.06 and P = 0.384). Conclusion: Handwashing after defecation as a determining factor causes STH infection.
