    Introduction: Middle meningeal artery (MMA) is the largest and very important branch of maxillary artery which supplies the meninges. It directly attaches to the cranial bones (is incorporated into periosteal layer of dura mater), favors common injuries in course of head trauma. In several neurological diseases, the lesions occur in either the MMA itself and treatment is necessary or the MMA is used as the pathway to treat the lesions. Thus, a clear knowledge of the anatomical organization of MMA is of great importance in neurosurgery and radiology; the main aim of the study is to investigate the anatomical organization of the MMA through the bony groove measurements from human skulls, through morphometrical measurement. Materials and Methods: A total of 50 dry human skull bones (cranial cavity opened) were obtained from the Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai. Using a flexible orthodontic wire and Vernier caliper, the length of the main trunk of MMA, the length of the frontal and parietal branches, and the length of the bony tunnel were measured and recorded. The pattern of middle meningeal vessel impression was analyzed using “ImageJ” software analysis. Results: As per our observations in this study, there was no significant difference found between the morphometric measurements of the left and right side of the MMA. Conclusion: The study provides vivid observations and also reveals important insights about some aspects of the anatomical organization of the MMA impression and its arterial pattern bilaterally. Thus, our observations on the morphometry of MMA undoubtedly will be useful to increase the detailed knowledge about this vital arterial segment of the skull that has extensive clinical implications.
