Objective: Multiyear research of Lake Ilinskoe, located in the protective zone of the Volga-Kama State Nature Biosphere Reserve, was performed. Physicochemical parameters of water and indicators of zooplankton community were investigated. The state of the coastal zone of the lake was assessed. Materials and Method: 37 species of zooplankton were identified in Lake Ilinskoe in 2013–2017. Rotifera is the basis of the community. The summer abundance of zooplankton varied from 244.2 thousand specimens/m3 to 980.1 thousand specimens/m3. The values of biomass varied from 1.51 g/m3 to 17.13 g/ m3. The water body refers to α-mesotrophic - α-eutrophic type. According to the value of the Shannon index, Lake Ilinskoe corresponds to oligotrophic type. The values of the Simpson index did not reveal any significant changes in the structure of community. According to the value of saprobity index, the water object in most cases referred to oligosaprobic zone. Results: Hydrochemical studies revealed an increase in the content of biogenic elements in the water, supersaturation of the surface layers of water with oxygen, and its deficiency at the bottom, the presence of hydrogen sulfide, and high content of organic substances in the water. All of the above indicates the intensive process of eutrophication. Conclusion: The analysis of the state of lake’s coastal area shows that one of the main problems is the intensive recreational load. Uncontrollable recreational use of the coastal zone and the lake leads to littering of territory, trampling of vegetation, and pollution of the lake with compounds of biogenic elements and oil products.
