Abstract
Background: Professional education nurtures the naive to think logically and try to elaborate and share something new with the peers or colleagues. In the digitalized world, where everything is accessible from the palm of our hands, why should we scuffle among black and white pages with no overt interactive content for proficiency. The process of acquiring new or modified existing knowledge, skills, behavior, preferences, and values is learning. Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the most beneficial study method. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted in Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, located in south part of India. 80 students from the final year undergraduates (2016–2017) participated voluntarily in 3 min questionnaire survey. The questions were phrased so as to assess which teaching and learning method had an overall effect on their understanding, aptitude development, and help them during the examinations. The results were statistically analyzed by paired t‑test using SPSS 3.0 software. Results:The conventional textbooks are monotonized with no overt interactive content. iBooks has 24% acceptance rate. Problem‑based learning (18%) aided in mastering the subject and in aptitude development (17%) but had a lesser role in presentation during theoretical examinations (13%) in comparison to iBooks (24%). Conclusion:There is a marked increase in student’s performance during the course of survey. This survey demonstrates the pivotal role of iBooks in student’s perception toward gaining knowledge along with other components. It is the best possible invention for tutors to impart educational information to students and improve their overall confidence.
