    Aim: The aim is to study the maxillary casts for diagnosis and treatment planning before the use of orthodontic appliance using graph labeling. Objective: To determine if Dental arch is normal or narrow, to determine if transverse expansion is needed, to determine how much expansion is possible using Graph labeling. Materials and Methods: The study involves 30 patient casts of normal occlusion, 30 casts with crowding, and 30 casts with spacing and proclination. The casts are considered to be of normal occlusion if the premolar basal arch width is between 37% and 44% according to Ashley Howe’s analysis. The distance between each vertex (tooth mesial to the first permanent molar) from a fixed point O is to be measured and labeled. Ratios between the edges to the edge joining the vertex O central groove of first permanent molar are to be analyzed and compared for crowding and spacing using graph labeling. Background: The maxillary arch is considered for the analysis. The central pit of each tooth mesial to the first permanent molar is considered as “vertices” of the graph and lines drawn from the fixed vertex O to each of these vertices are considered as the edges, and the graph thus obtained is labeled. The graph obtained from the samples are compared with the standard labeling (normal occlusion), and based on the amount of discrepancy, treatment plan is made.
