    Diabetic nephropathy is associated with increased mortality in diabetic patients and is a major cause of end stage renal disease in most countries. Diabetic nephropathy seems to occur as a result of an interaction between metabolic and haemodynamic factors .Glucose dependent pathway are activated with in diabetic kidney .These include increased oxidative stress and accumulation of advanced glycated endproduct. Haemodynamic factors are also implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy and include increased systemic and intraglomerular pressure and activation of various vasoactive hormone pathways including renin-angiotensin and endothelin. Despite the modern therapies involved in the management and prevention of diabetic nephropathy include antidiabetics ,anti-hypertensive, particularly those which interrupt the renin-angiotensin system, antioxidants and inhibitors of advanced glycation end product are available to treat diabetic nephropathy.The purpose of this review is to bring together the current information concerning the signaling system involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy.
