    Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of obesity and overweight among South Indians. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of obesity and overweight among South Indian population. Materials and Methods: It is a questionnaire-based survey. A set of 20 questions was framed and was given to 100 participants of different age groups in an online forum, SurveyPlanet. The results were analyzed and were computerized. Results and Discussion: This survey has been mostly taken by younger generation where they feel that obesity and overweight are a big threat and lead to heart diseases, arthritis, etc. Many of them are aware of weight loss surgeries and have tried to reduce obesity by non-surgical methods. A majority of population feels that expenses for reducing overweight should also be included in health policies as majority of the participants consider obesity as a serious threat. Conclusion: Due to technological development, workload has been reduced. This has witnessed a change in the overall biological cycle of human body. One of the unappreciated health problems in human population is obesity and overweight, which are the key for other ailments. Thus, this survey created a general awareness among South Indian population about obesity and overweight and made them consider steps to prevent its occurrence.
