Introduction: The human oral cavity has continuously evolving microbial species. Gingivitis is the inflammation of gingiva, in which the connective tissue attachment remains in its original level. Streptococcus mitis and Streptococcus sanguinis play a very important role in gingivitis. Coriandrum sativum is an herb grown extensively all over the world. Coriander plant has been reported to have antibacterial, anxiolytic, antioxidant, and antidiabetic properties. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare different concentrations of C. sativum seed extract against S. mitis and S. sanguinis. Methodology: In vitro comparison of antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of C. sativum seed against S. mitis and S. sanguinis was evaluated using the disk diffusion method. Results: Results of this study showed that seeds of C. sativum did not possess antibacterial property against S. mitis and S. sanguinis. Conclusion: This lack of antibacterial action against S. mitis and S. sanguinis can be considered as a limitation of C. sativum against oral pathogens.
