    Background: Liver is one of the largest and the most vital organs in the human body. It helps in maintenance, performance, and regulating homeostasis of the body properly. The liver is basically involvedwith the entire biochemical pathway to growth, fight against disease, nutrient supply to the organs, and energy production and reproduction. Toxin chemicals like that of CCl 4 , drughabits, and alcohols damage the liver to a larger extent and this leads to various liver ailments such as hepatitis and alcoholic liver diseases.These conditions of liver damage can only be cured by hepatoprotective agents. Materials and Methods: HepG2 cells were incubated and treated with the toxic agent (1%) CCl 4 in 0.05% DMSO) for 3 h. To this treated hepatocytes , hepatoprotective activity of urosolic acid was assessed by MTT assay. Results: Pretreatment with the urosolic acid markedly reversed hepatotoxicity caused by the CCl 4 .
