    Three simple, precise and economical UV methods have been developed for the estimation of Metoprolol succinate in pharmaceutical dosage form. Method A is Absorbance maxima method, Metoprolol succinate has the absorbance maxima at 273.0 nm, Method B is the first order derivative spectra, the absorbance was measured at lmaxima = 284 nm and λminima = 260 nm with 272 nm as zero crossing point and amplitude difference was measured for the respective concentration of standard and was plotted against concentration and regression equation was calculated. Method C applied was area under curve (AUC), in the wavelength range of 244-294 nm. Linearity for detector response was observed in the concentration range of 25-200 μg/ml for all three methods. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of Metoprolol succinate in commercial pharmaceutical preparation. The results were validated statistically as per ICH
    guideline. It was found to be satisfactory.
