Three simple, precise and economical UV methods have been developed for the estimation of Diacerein in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. In Absorbance maxima method, the absorbance maxima for Diacerin was found to be 256nm. In first order derivative method, the absorbance was measured at λmaxima = 266nm and λminima = 245nm and amplitude difference was measured for the respective concentration of standard and was plotted against concentration and regression equation was calculated. In area under curve method 244-264nm range was selected. Linearity for detector response was observed in the concentration range of 1- 11μg/ml for all three methods. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of Diacerein in commercial pharmaceutical preparation. All three methods were validated statistically as per ICH guidelines.

Around 2 ml of 99% eugenol was taken in a clean and dry test tube. The standard eugenol was spotted on a watt man filter paper having dimension 4 X 20 cm. 95% of methanol was mixed with 5% of chloroform by ultra sonication and taken around 100 ml in a chromatographic chamber. and its (Rf) value was calculated. 5mg of each extract was drawn and dissolved in 5 ml of solvent (Meoh:Chloroform 95:5) then 0.1 ml from the above solution was applied to the paper in the form of band and all the procedure was maintained as like as standard. After complete development the paper was removed out and allowed to dry. Measure the Rf value as compared with the standard eugenol. Then the portion which resemble with the standard Rf value was cut out and dissolved in 5ml of the above solvent. The solution then taken for UV analysis. By trial and error, the method having 70 parts of methanol, 20 parts of water and 10 parts of Acetonitrile was fit strong for eugenol in an Isocratic system having column C-18 and this method was developed for both standard eugenol and eugenol present in alcoholic extracts of different species of Ocimum, and subjected for HPLC analysis.

In the present work, hydroxyapatite (HAp) was successfully synthesized by two different sol-gel synthesis methods using dried dead snail shells, aspecial type of biological wastes, (NH4)2HPO4, and NH4OH as starting materials. The gelatinous precipitate was washed repeatedly with distilled water to remove unwanted ions and dried overnight in an oven at 100 o C and then calcined at 8000C for 2 hour. The powder sample was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Malvern Particle Size Analyzer, X-ray Diffractometer (PW-1830, Philips, Netherlands) using Cu-Ka radiation. FTIR spectra with a Perkin-Elmer (S2000) IR spectrometer, thermogravimetric analysis by (NETZSCH-Geratebau GmbH Thermal Analyzer) BET surface area analyzer (QUANTACHROME Model: Autosorb1). The snail shells seems to be a promising source of calcium for preparing nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite with excellent properties so essential for hard tissue replacement.
