Aim: This study aims to evaluate the effect of video-based cartoons in the management of anxiety in children undergoing restorative therapy. Materials and Methods: A total of 40 pediatric dental patients aged from 6 to 12 years were selected who reported to Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals for restorative dental treatment. 20 patients were provided treatment without video-based distraction and 20 were provided treatment with video-based cartoon distractions. Their response was assessed using facial image scale for dental anxiety. The data are obtained and tabulated for statistical analysis. Results: The obtained data were assumed to have a non-parametric distribution, and hence, a Mann–Whitney U-test was performed to assess the statistical significance at 5%. The test revealed Z score of 3.74185 and P = 0.00018 indicating a statistical significance between both the groups. Conclusion: Video-based intervention shows a significant reduction in the anxiety levels of children undergoing restorative therapy. Hence, it is implied that using video-based distractions can bring in a positive and desired behavior during dental treatment in children of 6–12 years of age.
