Abstract
Introduction:Dairy products such as cheese, butter, milk, and other milk processed products are proven an excellent source for strong teeth due to its calcium content. Children have a natural fondness for sweets and dairy products. The remnants of these products get entrapped between the teeth and release bacteria which when not removed by brushing or other mechanical methods cause caries in the long run. Materials and Methods:A questionnaire was circulated among 102 parents with questions regarding their child’s food habits. Data were collected and analyzed. Results:It was found that 46.2% replace their toothbrush once a month. 41.2% take their child to the dentist only when the situation demands. 44.1% do not monitor their child while brushing. Conclusion:Children are prone to caries due to improper hygiene practices and lack of parental guidance. Dietary habits are not as healthy as dairy products are consumes without proper hygiene practices.
