Abstract
Introduction:Many countries like India is facing the major problem of both malnutrition and obesity. Adolescence is considered as a critical period of life which has higher susceptibility of both obesity and anemic. The habits such as skipping breakfast and increase in consumption of high-calorie foods not only cause iron-deficiency anemia but also cause obesity. Materials and Methods:This research was done among 100 dental students to determine their hemoglobin (Hb) levels and respective body mass index (BMI). This helps to find whether the student population has any complications and also establishes their relationship. Results and Discussion:From the above data, the calculated mean of BMI and Hb is expected to be 21.914 and 12.133, respectively. The expected standard deviation of BMI and Hb is 3.863 and 1.922, respectively. Conclusion:There was a significant P value for Hb which is absent in BMI. It is not necessary that anemic person has deficient BMI and vice versa. From the results obtained, there is no positive correlation between the BMI and Hb.
