Abstract
Aim:The main objective of this study is to analyze the cytotoxic effect of cows ghee on the oral cancer cell lines (KB cell lines). Materials and Methods:KB cell line: KB cell line was procured from NCCs, Pune, and maintained in Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium. Test drug: Cow ghee extract was used. Cytotoxic assay: Cytotoxicity of the extract was analyzed by 3-(4,5-dimethythiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay and compared with standard drug cisplatin. Results and Discussion: Results were expressed as mean ± SD. Statistical significance was determined by one-way analysis of variance and post hoc least significant difference test. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. From the study, it is evident that cows ghee possessed cytotoxic potential against KB cell line in dose-dependent manner as compared to the standard drug cisplatin
