Abstract
This work proposed the Soxhlet extraction of Neem oil from Neem seeds (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) using hexane as solvent. Effects of particle size, temperature, and residential time on the extraction parameters were studied. Neem oil was extracted using hexane solvent with ratio of neem seed powder weight to solvent volume of 1:5. Here we have studied the yield of oil. Here, the control mechanism for soxhlet extraction of Neem oil in hexane is mass transfer, and we studied the yield data of Neem oil extraction by using Soxhlet Apparatus. Based on the analysis, showed that decreasing particle size increases the yield of oil and increase in temperature increases the yield of oil. We got the maximum yield of oil of 20ml from 50gm of raw material at a temperature of 650C and 0.6 mm particle size. As the time of contact increases the yield of oil also increases up to optimum time of contact.
