    Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different salivary pH on the surface of metal (Ni-Cr alloy) prosthesis. Materials and Methods: Sixteen Ni-Cr blocks measuring 1 cm × 1 cm subjected to different salivary pH-5.0, 7.0, and 9.0, and a control group (saline) maintaining at a temperature of 37°C with a sample size (n = 16) immersed for a period of 1-week duration.To observe the roughness, a non-contact profilometer was used before samples immersing in saliva and after immersing in an artificial saliva with different pH for a week period. Group 1: Ni Cr specimens immersed in saline, Group 2: Ni Cr specimens immersed in artificial saliva with pH 5, Group 3: Ni Cr specimens immersed in artificial saliva with pH 7, and Group 4: Ni Cr specimens immersed in artificial saliva with pH 9. Statistical Analysis: Paired t-test was conducted between the pre- and post-Ra and Sa values. ANOVA was conducted between the four groups, and the values are tabulated. Results: The values of the mean and standard deviation of surface roughness (Ra and Sa) at different salivary pH before and after immersion are 2.50 ± 1.2, 5.02 ± 2.16, 2.87 ± 1.89, and 6.36 ± 1.84, respectively. The values obtained by ANOVA show no significant difference between the experimental groups. Conclusion: Ni-Cr alloys seem to be resistant to variation in the pH of saliva. This study observes no statistically significant change in Ra and Sa induced by varying levels of salivary pH.
