Abstract
The aim of the present work is to formulate and evaluate ibuprofen nanoparticulated gel for topical delivery to treat inflammation and penetration enhancement. Nanoparticles being a drug delivery system which may reduce the toxicity and also low dose is enough to achieve the required therapeutic effect. As ibuprofen is one of the most widely used drug in treatment of inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and various inflammatory conditions and long-term use of ibuprofen causes several GIT problems. The objective of the present work is to decrease the side effects of ibuprofen by administering the drug topically and to increase the bioavailability of ibuprofen by converting into nanoparticles. The present work helps to minimizing the drawback of long-term use of ibuprofen these drug loaded nanoparticles were incorporated in gel. The prepared drug-loaded nanoparticulate gel was evaluated for physical appearance, homogeneity, pH, drug content, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability and in vitro diffusion studies. All te prepared nanoparticulate gel formulations were clear and good homogeneity. The formulated topical gel containing ibuprofen Nanoparticles can be successfully used to increase the bioavailability of drug and to overcome the side effects.
